Learning activities beyond your schoolyard

Make the outdoors your classroom! Travel beyond your school grounds for a multitude of new outdoor learning experiences that connect youth to the land and their surroundings. Engage with local agriculture, observe the natural environment, and learn from Indigenous culture and communities.  

Inspiration to get started:

  • Create a territory acknowledgement with your class
  • Invite an Elder into your class to talk about local Indigenous foods
  • Create a weekly journal-writing activity outside
  • Go on a hike to learn about native plants
