Curriculum Connections

How does food literacy connect to the BC Curriculum? We believe that most subjects can be taught with food, and food literacy can be the foundation of your cross-curricular unit plans. Whether you have your class out on a hike studying native plants, picking carrots from the school garden, or going on a field trip to a local farm, you can teach content from math, art, or careers.

These lists include the Curricular Competencies and Content that can be taught in a range of food literacy project categories below. Food literacy also connects well to students’ growth through their Core Competencies.

They are saved in a document form so that you can download and edit them to fit your unit planning.
