F2SBC Annual Report (2023 – 2024)

2024 marked multiple major harvests, as we:

  • Expanded our Regional Hub model to align with the geographic boundaries of British Columbia’s Health Authorities and better support all 60 school districts.
  • Received over 140 grant applications, which far exceeded previous years. The farm to school movement is growing, and we’ve only had the capacity to fund 30-40% of applicants annually.
  • Collaborated with local food producers and processors to provide school meal coordinators with invaluable guidance and resources.

Together, these milestones are creating vibrant ecosystems of support that bring food literacy to life in classrooms, cafeterias, and gardens across the province. Read the full report to learn more about our impact.

The Public Health Association of BC contracted Howegroup Public Sector Consultants to conduct an external evaluation of Farm to School BC with the intention of determining the program’s impact on students’ fruit and vegetable consumption, social and emotional health, learning outcomes and program sustainability.

The Farm to School BC evaluation was carried out between September 2018 and June 2019. The evaluation was guided by an Evaluation Working Group, consisting of representatives from health authorities, Farm to School BC community animators and the Provincial Health Services Authority, who had substantial input into the development of the evaluation framework.
