About Our $3,000 Grants

The 3K is ideally suited for larger more elaborate projects with a clear vision which may require more time and planning to complete. These projects typically rely on a school community with the engagement of a school project team, student participation, and additional support from community stakeholders.

Examples of farm to school projects can include:

You may apply for a maximum of $3,000 to invest in your Farm to School BC project. The amount granted will be dependent on the scope of your proposed program.

A total of 30 grants will be distributed this year across the province with a priority of 50% of all funding dedicated to supporting rural/remote and First Nations schools. We hope to bring more farm to school (also known as Food to School, Land to School, Sea to School) initiatives into these communities, so please apply or recommend these grants to schools in your area.

*Rural schools are defined as communities with a population of less than 20,000. Remote schools are defined as communities with a population of less than 1000. A First Nations school refers to a school located on-reserve and operated and administered by one or more First Nations in BC.

If you are unsure if your school is defined as rural or remote, please connect with our grants manager at grants@nullfarmtoschoolbc.ca

About Farm to School BC

Farm to School BC is a program that supports local and sustainable food in schools across British Columbia and provides students with hands-on learning opportunities that develop food literacy, all while strengthening the local food system and enhancing school and community connectedness.

Farm to school activities differ by school, but always include the following three elements:

  1. Healthy, Local Food
  2. Hands-on Learning
  3. School & Community Connectedness

Farm to School BC is a program of the Public Health Association of BC and is supported by the Province of British Columbia.

Farm to School BC is organized into eight Regional Hubs, each coordinated by a local Community Animator (see list below), and supported by an advisory committee, which is constructed of a network of stakeholders.
