F2S Kamloops Area Network Meeting: Cooking Local Food in Schools

Join the Farm to School Kamloops Hub Region Network for its Monthly Online Meeting!
This is a networking event for educators and school community members interested in creating change towards more healthy, local school food systems or for people wanting to learn more and become involved with Farm to School type programs.
This month’s webinar meeting will feature Dave Colombe, a chef who has spent years cooking with local food, and teaching people how to cook with it! Bring all of your recipe questions and ideas, favorite vegetables to cook with, and any foods that are lacking inspiration for you.

David Colombe is a local foods Chef and activist. Since arriving in Canada, Colombe has focused his
efforts on supporting local foods and products through his professional career and volunteer efforts
throughout BC. As the President of Farm2Chefs in Kamloops, he hopes to assist with the accessibility
of local foods usage to restaurants and institutions, through training, grants and workshops.
As Executive Chef of Table 24 in Salmon Arm, Colombe instituted an all local menu utilizing products
from over 29 vendors from the Shuswap to South Okanagan. He transformed the restaurant from using
only major suppliers to hand picking each ingredient while still maintaining food cost and increasing
Fortifying his career with ongoing food studies and writing a cookbook, he is now the on-farm Chef for
markets and events at Left Fields Farm / Crannog Ales, and has created his own line of Certified
Organic Sodas, using all local and organic produce.
